Ras Ghareb Wind Energy – Project Update

On the 14th June 2018, Ras Ghareb Wind Energy has received its Construction Permit from the Ras Ghareb Municipality. This is an important milestone achieved on time which enable the project to proceed further on schedule.

The project construction progress has now reached 20%, in line with the original plan. More than 350,000 manhours have been worked at site. We are proud that highest standards in regards of Health & Safety are maintained at site and no Lost Time Incident has been encountered.

The main achievement this month was the successful installation of the concrete batching plant by Lafarge (France). Immediately thereafter, Orascom Construction has poured the foundation of 6 Wind Turbines foundations within one week.

On the 10th June 2018, Ras Ghareb Wind Energy agreed with the General Petroleum Company (GPC) representatives on the access route from Cairo-Hurghada Highway to the wind farm. The preparation of this 21.7 km access road will start very soon. The route shall be ready for Siemens Gamesa first blades and nacelles deliveries which are scheduled now end August.
